Two hours flew by. The instructor, Mrs. Kyoko Shigeta was so wonderful to learn from. Mrs. Shigeta is the representative director of the Wa-Modern Mizuhiki Association. Learning so closely from such a well-known Mizuhiki artist was an incredibly luxurious experience. She speaks English frequently because she lived abroad in her childhood.
We learned how to make a "plum blossom". First, we practiced shaping the basic form with one cord. Then, I progressed to practicing with two cords and following the steps. I challenged myself with four cords Combining a four-cord and a two-cord plum blossom, I created my one-of-a-kind original barrette. It was also a lot of fun to select the colors and think about the size of the plum blossom.
One of the participants made "pochi bags" (petit envelopes). They turned out so beautifully and looked professional❤️
The next workshop will be on Sunday, May 26th, starting at 3 PM in our center in Roppongi. You can make earrings or hair ornaments. Children as young as 5 years old can participate. Parent-child participation is also welcome.
